I started to learn the trade with my dad who was one of the best decorators I have ever get met. I came to Hardgate 7 years ago and have enjoyed it since the day I started. Met loads of amazing people. My intentions were to always climb the ladder in Hardgate so here we are!
The satisfaction after our work is done and you see the final product. I get a lot of pride in what we do. Meeting new people on every job.

Prior to working at Hardgate, I worked for our family run decorating business. I also have a Business Law degree and I am a Personal Trainer in my spare time! I am looking forward to helping the company flourish and grow.

I have been painting for 17 years now, spend most of my time outside work with my wife and 2 boys and the rare occasion I get the chance to I enjoy a few beers with friends watching the football.

Like Cameron , my background was 21 years at a Main Contractor where I worked up to the position of Senior Commercial Manager. My role is to run the company which is not nearly as glamorous as it sounds. I am estimator, surveyor, project manager, accountant, HR, Health and Safety all rolled into one.
We employee almost 50 people, of which 10 are apprentices. The feeling of being able to provide these opportunities gives me enormous personal satisfaction.
There is also nothing better than receiving positive feedback from Clients when you deliver a project. Our company is owned by the management team so we take great pride in what we do.
To continue to build Hardgate to become one of the best painting contractors in the Industry.

I’ve worked in the industry for over 18 years and I am now a Supervisor at Hardgate. I have previously won awards for Painting and Decorating; Crown and Dulux ‘Apprentice of the Year’ and ‘Tradesman of the year’ in 2020 and 2021 at The Scottish Business Awards. This has allowed me to develop my experience, knowledge and skills within the industry.
Being involved in projects from start to finish and seeing the end product is the most rewarding part of my job. I also enjoy teaching apprentices and giving them the skills and knowledge to prepare them for the opportunities ahead. Everyone at Hardgate is driven and working towards the shared goal of success for the company which is great to be a part of.

I began working in the industry at 16 years old when I enrolled in a college course for basic level painting and decorating. After this I sought an apprenticeship and the rest is history. Over the years I have worked all over the U.K and also abroad on a diverse range of projects which help me bring an eclectic perspective on our work.
Job satisfaction is certainly a driving motivation. Being in a position to confidently offer guidance and advice to the younger generation would be something I enjoy also.

My background is 32 years (you would never guess by looking at me) in painting and decorating. 26 years in a family business before joining Hardgate.

I am a decorator to trade (like to think a really good one at one time).

At Hardgate I manage and oversee the daily operations of My own Contracts. Acting as the go between for Hardgate Management, the Site Foreman and the project/ site management and clients. Its my job to make sure that all contracts are handed over on program, within budget & to the highest possible standards (as well as a myriad of other tasks LOL).

I’ve worked in the construction industry both private and commercial and also in shipbuilding (MOD).

Prior to working at Hardgate, I worked with a Main Contractor for 13 years where I worked as part of a team delivering numerous projects. This previous experience provided me with an insight into the inner workings of Main Contracting and allows me to ensure that we provide our Clients with the service and support that they need.
Working from home when I need to is definitely up there with the “best thing about my job” but I also love seeing the team deliver difficult projects to a high standard – something that we do on a regular basis.
To continue with the path that I’m on and to keep chasing a better version of myself. Finding time to play more golf would also be up there.
